Excellent group run. 17 miles. Up and down Provo canyon. With Fritz, Scott, Zak, Mike, Brandon, Chad, Chad's friend (I'm spacing on his name), Toni, Reed, Nate, Jeff, and Josh. 8 mile warm up. Then did 8 mile tempo at 5:20 average. Splits:  5:19, 5:35, 5:17, 5:15, 5:17, 5:17, 5:29, 5:15). Felt very strong and relaxed. I intentionally made sure I didn't run any faster than marathon pace. Everyone looked great. Zak, Scott, Mike, and I ran together. Fritz and Nate ran a bit faster. Overall a great group run, with very nice weather.

Booya! Nice restraint today, very wise this close. You're in for a great one. How about that group and that energy today :). Ice cream earned today. Thanks Matt!

Great run Matt. We kept our pushes today controlled as well. That's wise and beneficial at this point I think. Can't wait...

The hay is just about in the barn. Nice week and run once again. It's a pleasure running with you guys.

Going to be a crazy year! I'm not sure what took place in 2007, but I know there are probably 8 people with PRs from that year. Going to be some fast times this year.

Perfect effort. You're locked in.

Jason - 2007 was the last year STG was eligible as an Olympic Trials qualifier course, hey had a 40 degree morning, and a lot of guys trying to get under 2:22 and get to NYC for the trials 5 weeks later. I think 2013 is going to be the first year since then where the quality of runners is that high again.

That makes sense, Jake. I was thinking it would be another big year, but my knowledge of the event is cobbled together from blogsay and old reports, so I didn't want to make any brash comparisons. And, hey, you'll be in the mix too I hear :) (DISCLAIMER: JAKE ISN'T REALLY RUNNING SGM READERS OF MATT'S BLOG)

Solid run Matt. SGM is looking to be a very special day for you.
