Decent race, but I hoped for a faster time.  Absolutely brutal wind for the last 5k (I think the wind was worse than last year).  But, thankfully, and against what we all expected given the weather forecast, there was no snow!  And, temperatures were mild.

First 5k split was 15:47 (but it was aided because of the tailwind).  2nd 5k split was 17:31 (Ouch! But it was more tough than the first 5k because of the wind).

During the 2nd 5k, I saw that I was gaining on Jason Holt, so I worked hard to catch him.  I passed him with a mile to go.

My splits:  5:05, 5:03, 5:07, 5:48, 5:41, 5:19, 1:11 (0.25).  My garmin said 6.25, but I'm guessing my Garmin was wrong and that it was an accurate course.

Great performances today by a lot of great people.

Pictures (courtesy of my wife, Elaina).  In the first picture, I can't remember what was so funny, but clearly something was.  Sorry there aren't pictures of everyone (that's not possible :)

Great effort Matt and nice pictures. I think that was after they said the 10k was the USATF championship and Riley said something to the effect of "Now it's on!"

Oh yeah, Josh, that was it! I forgot :)

Nice race Matt. That wind sounds brutal. Solid placing with a group of great runners.

Great race Matt. Great pictures, too. That wind sounds terrible.

Thanks for driving brotha. Great time today again. Solid effort. Way to track down Holt in the last few miles. Gonna be a fun year injury free. :) make it happen.

RRCA championship. Everyone wanted that coaster/medal.

Good run Matt.

SPencer, your comment caught me by surprise… I thought, "Matt hunted me down again!?" But then I figured it out.

You'll have to excuse my friend; he's a little slow.

Strong push Matt, great job.

Nice one Matt! I can't say I'm sorry to have missed it this year :s. Last year's wind was bad enough for me.

You looked strong on the way back Matt. Congrats on the solid race.

i thought that first photo was capturing jake singing the naitonal anthem. i love the contrast with the second photo -- it's all business.

great race on a fine, blustery day!

Nice work out there today Matt. It was fun running with ya.

Yeah you guys all laughed when I said that this being a RRCA state championship meant it was a whole new game, but I was serious ;)

Tell Elaina thanks for the photos, lots of good ones.

You're a beast! Way to get it done in tough conditions. Wind is a powerful adversary. Congrats on having the toughness to gut it out.

Really great race Matt...especially considering this is your 3rd weekend of racing in a row! Your wife did a great job with the pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Great job, Matt! Super impressive with 4 races in a row! Definitely filling your race quota for the year early :-)

Thanks everyone. Allie, very good point: Jake is singing the national anthem. And, interestingly, I've got my hand over my heart :)
