A good race for me.  Other than running the first 1/2 mile with Walter, I ran alone the entire time.  I hoped for a faster time, but I am pleased with my race.  It sure is easier to run a fast time when you are running with others -- pushing each other.  But, I feel running solo helps build mental toughness (trying to ride the red-line by yourself).  I felt very strong today.  It was fun to win.  I am grateful for good races.  And, I really enjoyed seeing Walter and Josh on the podium.

This race, of course, is aided.  It sure is a fun one, though.  Fun to run with Scott for about 1.5 miles, starting at mile 8.5 (part of his training run).  Great to see so many friends today!  Many great performances (including by my wife).

My splits are a bit all over the place.  My garmin is dying, so I don't trust my splits.  I clearly need to work on my pacing near the end of half marathons.

My splits:  4:53, 5:11, 5:05, 4:58, 4:55, 4:52, 5:00, 5:02, 5:19, 5:22, 5:42 (big hill), 5:30, 5:32

You're a beast! Congratulations.

From Sasha Pachev on Sat, Jun 21, 2014 at 16:43:06 from 192.168.1.1

Congratulations on the win! Will debug the bug. It would help if you pasted it garbled with a note, will make it easier to figure it out.

From Sasha Pachev on Sat, Jun 21, 2014 at 16:46:58 from 192.168.1.1

I see the problem - it just does not bring up the HTML editor, let me see why.

From Sasha Pachev on Sat, Jun 21, 2014 at 16:50:31 from 192.168.1.1

Matt - workaround for now - if you edit your report in some HTML editor, then paste the actual HTML directly into the box, it will show up normally. Do not mind that it looks garbled when you paste it - it will have some ugly looking HTML tags. Will debug this on Monday.

From Fritz on Sat, Jun 21, 2014 at 20:24:09 from 98.202.9.237

Great job Matt! Nice win. If you post it as a race report then we can see your time :) Those looked like quick splits.

From Matt Poulsen on Sat, Jun 21, 2014 at 21:01:26 from 50.168.224.197

Thanks, guys. Yeah, Fritz, my FRB account currently has problems. I've tried entering today's race as a race report, and in several other ways. It's not working properly.

From Dan Varga on Sat, Jun 21, 2014 at 21:04:22 from 66.87.64.90

Matt, congrats on an awesome race today!

From Matt Poulsen on Sun, Jun 22, 2014 at 09:46:19 from 50.168.224.197

Thanks, guys! I just posted my full report. It's still garbled, but Sasha is working on fixing the bug (thanks, Sasha!).

From allie on Sun, Jun 22, 2014 at 10:38:18 from 65.130.183.214

great race, matt. congrats. that's a great photo of you approaching the finish line.

From Sasha Pachev on Sun, Jun 22, 2014 at 12:31:44 from 192.168.1.1

Matt - I found several variants of your earlier report in the digital sewer, but they do not seem to be more complete that what you have now. So it appears that unlike in the case of Paul we have not lost anything. If you feel that we have, give me an idea of what is missing, and I can did a little deeper.

From Matt Poulsen on Sun, Jun 22, 2014 at 13:06:01 from 50.168.224.197

Sasha, my report is all there; I just need a couple deletions. I need the 2nd paragraph deleted (the paragraph that starts with "This race" and ends with "podium"). I also need pictures 4, 5, and 6 deleted (numbered top to bottom). 4 is the blank one, 5 & 6 are duplicates. Thank you!

I like the report the way it is, all garbled. It's hilarious. I could read it all day.

From Josh E on Sun, Jun 22, 2014 at 13:30:20 from 75.162.186.46

Great race Matt.

Nice meeting your family. Thanks to your wife for getting a photo. You are welcome to take them down now if youd'd like :)

From Fritz on Sun, Jun 22, 2014 at 13:39:10 from 98.202.9.237

Great photos. The pic at the finish is a keeper.

You won a Blendtec!?! That has to rank up there with the best prizes ever. Now you can blend concrete and anything else in your refrigerator.

From Jake K on Sun, Jun 22, 2014 at 20:03:53 from 98.202.128.218

It looks like you are holding a fruit basket above the blender... Hopefully you juiced that all down immediately into a smoothie. With elk meat, of course.

Nice win too!

From JPark on Sun, Jun 22, 2014 at 21:10:25 from 67.172.224.201

Fantastic race Matt! You earned it. Relish the win. Looking forward to more great performances from you this summer/fall.

Matt:

I have now fixed the server configuration issue that cause the text garbling, and and fixed your report removing the garbage. Apologies for the trouble.

From Rachelle on Mon, Jun 23, 2014 at 14:57:22 from 159.212.71.173

Congratulations again Matt! Thanks for sharing the photos with us.

From Matt Poulsen on Mon, Jun 23, 2014 at 16:28:21 from 50.168.224.197

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your support!

My clean, un-garbled report is now up :)

Sasha, thanks for fixing my blog. And, you never need to apologize; thanks to you, we have this wonderful thing called fastrunningblog.com.

Josh, I'm not taking your picture down :) I've got your picture right where I want it.

Yep, I guess now I can blend about anything: concrete (Fritz), elk smoothies (Jake), you name it :)

From Superfly on Tue, Jun 24, 2014 at 07:25:28 from 64.255.82.18
